Abstract

The study aimed to determine and understand the situation of male individuals who are engaging in sex related profession in the Philippines including their sex preferences and the factors that contributed or brought them into this kind of profession. The researchers made used of triangulation as a method of research and have selected five male individuals that met the qualifications of the criteria of a sex worker under purposive sampling technique. Data were collected in a form of interview following the sets of questions in an interview guide prepared by the researchers and observation on the sex workers behavior during the research proper. As a result, the study shows that all the participants preferred female as their partners. The factors that brought them into this profession are poverty, desire for money, physical desire and personal enjoyment. It also shows the challenges that the participants may face like acquiring illness or disease after engaging in sex with different people.
